Ground-based magnetic survey in the southwest corner of Yakima Training Center, Washington, 2025
A ground-based magnetic survey was conducted in the southwest corner of Yakima Training Center, Washington, in 2025. Magnetic surveys are passive, non-contact, surface geophysical methods that measure the total ambient magnetic field. The magnetic survey utilized a Geometrics G-864 cesium magnetometer. Survey lines were carried out to better understand the subsurface along a prominent magnetic anomaly identified in a regional aeromagnetic survey (Blakely and others, 2020) and a conical topographic feature, Pushtay. Some survey lines were completed in areas containing high amounts of infrastructure, which adversely affects these data by producing magnetic fields that can obscure the magnetic field of underlying geology. The associated .csv contains 10 lines. Lines 1-7 cross the prominent linear magnetic anomaly identified from Blakely and others (2020) and lines 8-10 cross Pushtay. Survey data were collected as discrete measurement points at one-second intervals, which may appear as continuous lines when plotting.
