Geological and Pb-isotope data for New England volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: May 05, 2026 at 10:13 PM | Dataset Last Updated: March 15, 2024 at 12:00 AM
This dataset accompanies publication “Lead isotopes in New England (USA) volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits: implications for metal sources and pre-accretionary tectonostratigraphic terranes”, published in Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences. The data encompass Pb-isotope analyses of sulfide mineral separates, mainly galena, as well as whole-sulfide samples, from volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits in the New England region (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts). All samples were collected by John F. Slack (USGS). All of the analyses were performed in 1984 and 1985, except for one sample that was analyzed in 2023.
