Geologic map of the Rooftop Ridge area, central North Slope, Alaska, Preliminary Interpretive Report 2025-5, presents a 1:63,360-scale bedrock geologic map of the northeastern Chandler Lake Quadrangle, emphasizing the Rooftop Ridge area in the central Brooks Range foothills of northern Alaska. Mapping conducted by the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) targets Cretaceous Brookian megasequence strata, including the Torok, Nanushuk, Seabee, Tuluvak, and Schrader Bluff Formations. These units record basin-axial and transverse sedimentation within the Colville foreland basin, formed in response to Mesozoic orogenic activity in the ancestral Brooks Range. The Rooftop Ridge area contains key petroleum system components such as productive reservoirs, heavy oil accumulations, and undeveloped hydrocarbon plays. This work supports DGGS's broader initiative to develop a contiguous geologic map series across the Brooks Range foothills and contributes to refining the regional stratigraphic, structural, and tectonic framework of Alaska's North Slope. This mapping effort contributes to a long-term DGGS initiative to produce a contiguous series of detailed geologic maps along the Brooks Range foothills, enhancing the geologic framework of northern Alaska. The dataset contains geologic, structural, stratigraphic, and geochronologic data organized according to the GeMS and AK GeMS mapping schemas.
