Geocoded Data - The Global Flood Impacts Database (GFID)
Final geocoded files for the DesInventar (DesInventar_Geocoded.csv), EM-DAT (EMDAT_Geocoded.csv), and HANZE (HANZE_Geocoded.csv) datasets.
The geocoded files preserve source-specific fields from the corresponding original data files and add geocoding-related fields. DesInventar_Geocoded.csv and EMDAT_Geocoded.csv include final representative GFID coordinates in GEO_LAT and GEO_LON and include GEO_METHOD to describe the coordinate-retention or geocoding method used. Original source coordinate fields, where present, are retained separately and should not be interpreted as the final harmonized GFID coordinates.
HANZE_Geocoded.csv preserves source-specific HANZE fields and adds LAT, LON, and GEO_METHOD fields. For HANZE, LAT and LON are the final representative coordinates derived from reported NUTS regions or fallback country-level geocoding.
All final representative coordinates are provided as latitude and longitude in decimal degrees using WGS84 / EPSG:4326. Coordinates represent approximate event locations for spatial indexing and analysis and should not be interpreted as exact flood footprints or precise impact locations.
