General Obligation (GO) Bond Projects
A. SUMMARY
This dataset provides a list of all active and recently completed projects funded by San Francisco’s General Obligation (GO) Bond programs. It tracks the project’s progress through the lifecycle of bond-funded projects. The purpose of this data is to ensure transparency in how taxpayer-approved funds are utilized and to monitor project delivery.

B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED
The Controller’s Office collects this data through data requests to bond program managers across multiple departments, such as Recreation and Parks, Public Works, and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. The Controller’s Office then aggregates the data and validates projects and schedule information with program managers. The data is used by the Controller’s Office for analysis and inclusion in the General Obligation Bond Program Report.
C. UPDATE PROCESS
This dataset is currently updated on a biennial (every two years) basis to coincide with the publication of the General Obligation Bond Program Report. This dataset may be updated more frequently in the future.
D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET
This dataset provides scope information for 11 General Obligation Bonds. A component may represent a single project or a group of related projects. Each row corresponds to one project, and the values in each column apply to that project. Some departments further break down their work into subcomponents, but this structure is not used often.
Completion Date:Completion dates may not be known for all projects.Completion dates in the past indicate the date the project reached substantial completion.Completion dates in the future are estimates of when the project anticipated reaching substantial completion. In most cases, the date shown is the last day of the month corresponding to the estimate submitted by departments.Blank completion dates may mean the completion date is still being determined or is unavailable.
Planned vs Completed Projects: The number of planned and completed projects may differ. In some cases, a department may complete more units or projects than originally planned. In other cases, the number completed may be less than the initial projection due to changes in scope, resources, or feasibility.Projects completed prior to the FY24-FY25 reporting period may not have data available, and those are indicated as completed prior to the reporting period.Projects may still be determining how many units/projects they are able to deliver, in which case those are noted as “TBD.”
Other Data Notes:Larger projects are sometimes completed in phases. When applicable, the project name indicates whether a completion date reflects a phased approach and includes the dates for each phase when that information is available.For housing‑related projects, the number of planned projects reflects the number of housing units within that project.
