| description | This dataset contains geospatially referenced environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling locations and laboratory detection summary results generated through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Invasive Carp eDNA Monitoring Program using approved non‑traditional sampling methods. Non‑traditional sampling is used when standard Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) procedures for the program cannot be applied and follows documented filter‑based collection and extraction methods to ensure data integrity and compatibility with Program workflows. Field data are collected using ArcGIS Field Maps configured for the non‑traditional monitoring protocol, with associated chain‑of‑custody and trip summary information captured through ArcGIS Survey123. Samples are processed by the Whitney Genetics Lab (WGL) using a standardized extraction procedure and qPCR marker sets described in the Program’s QAPP. All detection results undergo quality assurance review by Program QA/QC staff before being finalized. The dataset includes sample coordinates, field metadata, laboratory extraction and detection outputs, and case‑level summaries generated upon completion of each non‑traditional sampling request. Completed datasets are stored within the internal Azure environments, backed up in the Service’s Enterprise Data Warehouse, and incorporated into ServCat at the end of each sampling year for long‑term preservation and accessibility. These data support ongoing monitoring and management of invasive carp populations and facilitate collaboration with state and tribal partners. |
