Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data
Fire effects monitoring data collected at Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park in Virginia. The data were collected during spring and summer field seasons from 2004 to 2023 by the Fire Effects Monitoring Crew based in Shenandoah National Park. Data include Fire Monitoring Handbook (FMH) plots for grasslands (2004-2023) and forest plots (2013). Data collected from 30 m grassland transects include species richness and point intercept data to obtain relative and percent cover. For each transect, photographs were taken from start and end points to document change. Data collected from 50 x 20 m forest plots include tree inventory to obtain density and basal area, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, seedling density, as well as all shrub transect methods for 50 m transects.
