FRC3: Fiber Reinforced Composite, Fiber Reuse Characterization, Facilitating Reclamation and Collection

Published by National Institute of Standards and Technology | National Institute of Standards and Technology | Catalog Last Checked: September 02, 2026 at 07:19 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 24, 2026
A machine-readable database of characterization data for high-performance fibers used in body armor, aerospace, and related composite applications. FRC3 consolidates datasets from multiple independent studies, spanning about 20 years of testing across para-aramid, ultra-high molar mass polyethylene, liquid crystal polyester, polyamide, carbon, cellulose, and polybenzobisoxazole fibers. Data include single-fiber tensile testing, yarn tensile  testing, ballistic V50 results, molar-mass distribution measurements, and spectroscopic degradation tracking.
