The dataset comprises a high-resolution sediment record spanning 7000 years from Foy Lake (Montana, USA). Foy Lake, situated at 48.1648°N, 114.3589°W and 1005 meters above sea level, is a deep freshwater lake within the drought-prone Flathead River Basin in the northern Rocky Mountains. Researchers collected percent abundances of 109 diatom taxa from a continuous lake sediment core, sampled approximately every 5–20 years, resulting in an extensive 7000-year record captured over 763 time-steps.
