NERIS Changes - Sept. 22, 2026
On August 12, 2026, the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) launched a public incident dataset. Bloomington Fire Department’s incident data may be accessed on the NERIS public portal through a map viewer, exported CSV, and API.
Since more comprehensive data is available through the NERIS public portal, we are no longer updating the NFIRS dataset since it conforms to an obsolete reporting standard.
If data you are looking for is not found in the NERIS public portal or the reports provided to the Board of Public Safety by BFD, then consider making a FOIA request through NextRequest.
Import Dataset Updates - Jan. 19, 2024!
The Bloomington Fire Department switched to a new RMS starting July 1st 2023. The ITS Applications team preserved continuity between the new and old system. This means new data will be found in this dataset and updated daily but slight tweaks have been made to union the old with the new.
Column notes:
Response_time is the difference between arrived_at and enroute_at in minutes. You may notice a handful of response times that are negative or in the hours. This is due to the RMS transition and the occasional update delay to an incident report.
