Employment Status for Iowa Civilian Population 16 Years Old and Over (ACS 5-Year Estimate)

Published by Data Hub Administration | State of Iowa | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 06:13 AM | Dataset Last Updated: April 24, 2026 at 09:12 PM
This dataset provides information on population estimates, labor force participation rate (e.g., (Labor Force / Total Population) × 100), employment/population ratio (e.g., (Employed / Total Population) × 100), and unemployment rate (e.g., (Unemployed / Labor Force) × 100) for civilian population 16 years old and over in State of Iowa, individual Iowa counties, incorporated places (i.e., cities) and census tracts within Iowa. Reported values are provided for race, ethnicity, sex, disability status, educational attainment, and poverty status. Data is from the U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey, Five Year Estimates, Table S2301. The five year data are collected over a period of 60 months for all geographic areas. Estimates are more reliable for smaller areas (under 20,000 population). Values should not be aggregated across multiple variables, geographies, and years. Also, comparisons should not be made between overlapping data collection periods (e.g. 2012-2016 and 2013-2017).
