Published by National Park Service | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 04:12 AM | Dataset Last Updated: October 16, 2018 at 12:00 AM
Summary of proposed field methods and activities: With the assistance of Kim Delozier from Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, we will set 3-4 Reconyx Camera Traps on the ridges between the Cataloochee Valley and Fines Creek. The GPS waypoints for the camera locations will be recorded. The cameras will be set for 3-week periods, and then the SD cards will be retrieved, and the cameras will be relocated to new areas on this tract of land. Any wildlife images that are captured as part of this monitoring will be uploaded to the Candid Critters eMammal website and be made available to NPS. Currently, Kim is attempting to locate access points for these public lands.
