The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) is a nationwide public health surveillance system administered by SAMHSA that captures emergency department (ED) visits related to recent substance use from participating hospitals' electronic health records. DAWN provides timely data on substance-related ED visits, including patient demographics, substances involved, clinical characteristics, and visit outcomes, to monitor trends, identify emerging drug threats, and support public health surveillance, prevention, treatment, and policy. This DAWN dataset’s time period covers the year 2007.
