Published by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce | Catalog Last Checked: April 11, 2026 at 09:57 PM | Dataset Last Updated: January 01, 1988 at 12:00 AM
Digital downhole wire-line logging data from the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) previously available from NGDC on CD-ROM are now available from the Borehole Research Group of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory online. DSDP logs were generated from 1967-1983, DSDP logs were produced under contract to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Science Operator for the DSDP. Parameters measured may include conductivity, bulk density, porosity, resistivity, grain density, sonic ratio, and other parameters. Parameters vary from hole to hole and cruise to cruise. The DSDP log data are available on a CD-ROM with accompanying software. Data are primarily in the Schlumberger LIS format. Some DSDP logs are in the Gearheart-Owen format, and logs for one site are in ASCII form. All DSDP logs have been translated into Schlumberger LIS format on the CD-ROM. Additional logs are available only in analog (microfilm) form. Complete documentation for the LIS format was provided on the original CD-ROM.
