Dominant Plant Species Composition and Cover at Jean Lafitte National Park (Barataria Preserve, 2007)
In July and again from September through November of 2007, vegetation composition data were collected at Jean Lafitte National Park’s Barataria Preserve. A total of 148 plots were surveyed, where vegetation species were identified and their relative cover estimated within a 10‑meter radius of each plot center. Additionally, all trees within the plot circle with a DBH greater than 10 cm were measured, mapped, and assessed for condition, while stems of trees with a DBH less than 10 cm were counted and overhead cover was estimated across different strata.
