Dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, water temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, nutrients and other measurements collected from profile and discrete sample observations during the R/V Discovery cruise DY111 (EXPOCODE 74EQ20191202) in the South Pacific Ocean, Southern Ocean from 2019-12-02 to 2020-01-09 (NCEI Accession 0282252)

Metadata Updated: November 1, 2023

This dataset includes discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity, temperature, salinity, oxygen and nutrients collected during the R/V Discovery cruise DY111 (EXPOCODE 74EQ20191202) in the South Pacific Ocean, Southern Ocean from 2019-12-02 to 2020-01-09. This cruise is a part of Carbon Uptake and Seasonal Traits in Antarctic Remineralisation Depth (CUSTARD) Project. The CUSTARD project examines how seasonal changes in nutrient availability for phytoplankton, at a key junction of the global ocean circulation, influence how long carbon is trapped in the ocean rather than escaping to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.
