Database of Diffusion MRI Brain Scans at 64 mT and 3 T

Published by National Institute of Standards and Technology | National Institute of Standards and Technology | Catalog Last Checked: September 02, 2026 at 07:19 PM | Dataset Last Updated: January 07, 2025
Twenty healthy volunteers gave informed consent to participate in this study, which was approved by the Advarra Institutional Review Board on behalf of NIST. Brain scans were conducted for each participant at separate times on a 3 T and a 64 mT MRI scanner. Scan protocols are consistent for all participants and include diffusion-weighted images at both field strengths, and a T1-weighted image at 3 T. Image and data processing software were developed in-house to maintain consistent treatment across both field strengths. Tissue segmentation is performed using the original 3 T, high-resolution T1-weighted image as input. For each participant, data from the 3 T system are registered to the 64 mT frame of reference and resampled to that scanner's resolution as well as to a 2x, in-plane refinement. All data are saved in a structured file system with individual files saved in the Hierarchical Data Format.
