Active planning for data quality has beneficial results. The federally funded Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD's) Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) requires the development of data quality plans.

States invest significant time and resources collecting and organizing data and, as with any investment, should periodically review and evaluate their efforts. Key discussion points are the elements of a data quality plan as well as the plan's use and value over time in assessing and improving data quality.

This webinar's presenters include Mike Lindsay, senior technical specialist at ICF International and long-time HUD consulting partner, and Gerry Leslie, project director, Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. Mike will discuss the use of data quality plans associated with HMIS with additional input from Michigan staff who use Michigan’s Statewide HMIS (MSHMIS). An important goal of the MSHMIS Project is to inform both local and statewide public policy about the extent and nature of homelessness.
