Data for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in groundwater samples collected by the California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Priority Basin Project, 2019-2024
The California Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Program Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) analyzed per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in groundwater samples collected from domestic and public drinking water supply wells in California. GAMA-PBP is a cooperative program between the U.S. Geological Survey and the California State Water Resources Control Board. This dataset contains 897 sites that can be used to assess PFAS occurrence in California groundwater used for public (406) and domestic supply (491). This dataset also contains two quality-control sites and a suite of quality-control samples collected with environmental samples, which were used to evaluate analytical variability, laboratory performance, and potential contamination to support quality assurance of the dataset.
This data release contains data for samples collected from May 2019 through November 2024 and includes revisions to earlier data (Kent, 2021; Voss and others, 2023) that were either screened or removed after analysis of quality-control data. Please see the quality-control and other descriptions of the data in the processing steps in the xml file. This data release supersedes previous PFAS data release versions reported by Kent (2021) and Voss and others (2023).
The dataset includes five tab-delimited text files and one metadata file, with detailed information on sampling locations, PFAS analytes, quality-control results, and final concentrations.
Table 1 lists the names and abbreviations of the twenty-eight PFAS constituents analyzed.
Table 2 contains information about each site visited, including location and well depth information and a summary of all the PFAS detections for each sample.
Table 3 contains the final results for each PFAS constituent analyzed at each site, after analysis of the results with quality-control sample results listed in table 4.
Table 4 contains results for each PFAS constituent analyzed and includes quality-control sample results, such as equipment, field, source solution, and laboratory blanks.
Table 5 contains a list of every sample collected at each site and has a summary of all the PFAS detections for each sample.
