Current meter and temperature profile data were collected using moored current meter - PCM casts in the TOGA area - Atlantic Ocean from September 10, 1970 to October 27, 1970. Data were collected by Diretoria de Hidrografia e Navegação, Brasil, as part of the AMAzon Shelf SEDiment Study (AMASSEDS) project. This dataset was received on magnetic tape from the Directoria de Hidrografia e Navegacao (DHN, Brazil). Data was submitted by Luis C. De Freitas. It contains current meter continuous observations in the mouth of the Amazon river collected by the Almirante Saldanha in 1970. The data were collected using an Ekman-GM at 7 and 50m depth. This dataset also includes oceanographic data collected in the South Atlantic Ocean off of the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
