    • Cordell Bank Hypoxia Mooring

    The mooring was built and deployed by University of California Davis (UCD), Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML) and Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries (GFNMS/CBNMS). The hypoxia monitoring buoy is equipped with oceanographic instruments which record dissolved oxygen, temperature, and salinity at Cordell Bank at depths up to 80 meters. Instruments collected time-series mooring data every 10 minutes. Instruments include: Minidot dissolved oxygen loggers (part #7450) with anti-fouling copper kit (part #4405) from Precision Measurement Engineering, Inc; and SBE 37-SM MicroCAT from Sea-bird Scientific. Instruments are situated at depth just above the anchor weight. This data is collected year-round, with few gaps in between (e.g. sensors were flooded, data was corrupted, or mooring was lost). The instruments on the mooring are replaced two to three times a year by staff from UCD BML and GFNMS/CBNMS.
