Climate change vulnerability of Big Sagebrush in the Western United States - a multi-model perspective

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: September 15, 2026 at 12:33 AM | Dataset Last Updated: September 11, 2026 at 12:00 AM
This dataset describes the vulnerability of big sagebrush to human-caused climate change projected under the Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 for year 2100. Climate change is expected to cause warming and drying in the Western United States and with adverse consequences for vegetation in dryland systems. Sagebrush is habitat for many wildlife species and a better understanding of how this vegetation responds to climate change can help inform long-term planning and climate adaptation strategies.
