Childcare Need & Supply

Published by data.wa.gov | State of Washington | Catalog Last Checked: June 02, 2026 at 06:09 PM | Dataset Last Updated: June 01, 2026
Please note: This dataset has been revised. It combines four dashboard datasets (Need & Supply Dashboard, Subsidy Uptake, Subsidy Overtime Uptake, and ECEAP Uptake) into one data summary. These changes are not removing data fields from the dataset. Rather, the former columns "childcare subsidized", "private care estimate", "estimated children receiving childcare", "estimate of unserved", and "percent need met" are all listed under the "metric type" column, transforming the data from a wide dataset into a long dataset. This dataset shows how much childcare need is met by state programs. The data is broken out by service type, program type, geography, age group, and income as a percent of the SMI. The “Uptake Rate” is the percent of children in service out of all the children in the same location, program, age group, and income. *https://www.dcyf.wa.gov/practice/oiaa/reports/early-learning-dashboards/child-care-need-supply-data
