Catalog of U.S. Government Publications Geographic-Based Record Sets
The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) makes available for free sets of MARC bibliographic records for each state and jurisdiction of the United States and reports about the records. The selection of the records is based on a group of MARC metadata elements related to geographic coverage and governmental jurisdiction. The full names, abbreviations, and adjectival forms of the states and jurisdictions are used as the match points. The reports are in the form of tab-separated values spreadsheets and include several different types of metadata, such as titles, agency names, Superintendent of Documents Classification numbers, and the OCLC numbers and PURLs of online equivalent records.
