Carboniferous cyclicity in the Arkoma Basin, Arkansas in the Midcontinent of North America
In this data release we present zircon U-Pb ages and εHf(t), feldspar 40Ar/39Ar ages, and whole rock major and trace elemental abundances to constrain the Morrowan-Atokan Boundary, the timing of onset of high-frequency cycles and the redox and salinity changes associated with rapidly changing depositional environments within the Arkoma Basin. Zircon and sanidine data were collected from the newly identified volcaniclastic deposit in the Trace Creek Member of the lower Atoka Formation. We supplement this analysis with Hf-isotope analysis of zircon to refine the provenance of the volcaniclastic deposit. Lastly, the core was sampled every 0.5 to 1 m for trace elements, to investigate changes in redox and salinity across the studied interval.
