Published by data.cityofchicago.org | City of Chicago | Catalog Last Checked: March 21, 2026 at 08:43 PM | Dataset Last Updated: March 17, 2026
Ward precincts, which function as local election districts to determine the polling places for voters, based on their addresses. Precincts are based on U.S. Census Bureau blocks. On August 2, 2022, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners approved this configuration of 1290 precincts, conforming to the newly redistricted Ward boundaries that had been approved by the Chicago City Council on May 16, 2022. The first, and only, election to which this dataset applies was the November 8, 2022 General election. Neither this description nor the dataset should be relied upon in situations where legal precision is required.
