Bobcat Camera Trap Detections - CDFW [ds3402]

Published by California Department of Fish and Wildlife | State of California | Catalog Last Checked: August 25, 2026 at 08:35 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 18, 2026 at 06:27 PM
Each record represents one photograph taken of a bobcat at a camera. The data has not been thinned by event, meaning that if a camera is set to take three photos when triggered, the data will include three rows for that one trigger event. Camera settings varied by project. Data with detailed latitude/longitude location data was collected by the California Bobcat Program as part of a state-wide bobcat population monitoring project at study areas across the state. Data with less detailed location information is owned by various other CDFW projects as indicated by the name. All data was pulled from Wildlife Insights, https://www.wildlifeinsights.org/. Rows missing important information such as location or date and time have been removed. The locations of cameras not owned by the California Bobcat Program have been fuzzed to protect ongoing projects. For more detailed information please contact the data owner.
