Published by National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP), Asthma and Air Quality Branch (AAQB) | U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Catalog Last Checked: September 28, 2026 at 08:25 PM
In the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), optional survey questions regarding asthma can be used by states to determine state-level child lifetime and current asthma prevalence by certain demographic characteristics to inform public health professionals, the public, and national, state, and local decisionmakers on the state of asthma. (CDC/NCEH/DEHSP/AAQB provided funding for these additional, optional survey questions about childhood asthma; the "parent" survey, BRFSS, is administered by another center in CDC)
