Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis detections and methylmercury loads in amphibians across the United States

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: August 01, 2026 at 04:54 AM | Dataset Last Updated: March 20, 2025 at 12:00 AM
The U.S. Geological Survey conducted sampling across the United States between 2017 and 2022 to assess the effects of methylmercury bioaccumulation and amphibian chytrid fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis; Bd) on the survival of amphibian species. This dataset includes detections and non-detections of Bd (obtained from DNA extracted from skin swabs) and whole-body methylmercury concentrations from individual amphibians, as well as habitat and climate characteristics where samples were collected.
