Each point is an average over the 5 simulated dates in August (8/01, 8/06, 8/11, 8/16, 8/21). The 1:1 line is shown (black dashed) for each plot. The reference values (X axis) are the average of 3 similar models (GSFC, GC, UCI) selected by examining the rms differences across all the models (see text). Note that the model points are plotted successively on top of one another and thus the earlier-plotted models may appear less frequent: in order, NCAR (black), GFDL (magenta), GISS (cyan), GC (blue), UCI (red), GSFC (green).
