Anesthetic properties of carbon dioxide on native and invasive fishes
This study evaluated the anesthetic properties of dissolved carbon dioxide on six fish species to determine its efficacy for use in sedating wild caught fish for surgeries. Phase I of this study aimed to inform induction time, recovery time, and short-term survival of fish using five different concentrations of carbon dioxide at one water temperature. Phase II determined the induction time, recovery time, and short-term survival of fish sedated using one concentration of CO2 at five different water temperatures. These datasets include water quality, sedation induction and recovery times, morphometric data, and CO2 titration data from two trials.
