Anchored hybrid enrichment in Potamilus mussels

Published by U.S. Geological Survey | Department of the Interior | Catalog Last Checked: May 05, 2026 at 10:15 PM | Dataset Last Updated: August 30, 2020 at 12:00 AM
Freshwater mussels are a species-rich group with biodiversity patterns shaped by life history strategies that include an obligate parasitic larval stage. Anchored hybrid enrichment (AHE) and ancestral character reconstruction (ACR) revealed convergence of life history strategies involving larval morphologies that reduce size to increase fecundity and require growth during encapsulation to increase survival post-metamorphosis.
