The report by Hawkins et al, "Predictive Inverse Model for Advective Heat Transfer in a Short-Circuited Fracture: Dimensional Analysis, Machine Learning, and Field Demonstration", uses machine learning to identify the spatial distribution of an unknown permeability field in parallel plates. Breakthrough cures for measured inert tracers are shown in figure 5 and figure 6.
