Published by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration | U.S. Department of Health & Human Services | Catalog Last Checked: July 31, 2026 at 09:35 PM | Dataset Last Updated: September 06, 2025
View national maps covering 35 measures of substance use and mental health by age group and state. The maps are based on the 2021-2022 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). They use small area estimation (SAE) methods in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with other data from smaller geographies. The combined data are used to create modeled estimates of the civilian, noninstitutionalized population ages 12 and older for each state. The map images are available as a PDF or HTM file.
