1.1 CONUS 2023.R1 hazard curves and uniform-hazard ground motion data

These hazard data, labeled CONUS.2023.R1, accompany revisions to the 2023 50-state National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM; Petersen and others, 2024) as documented in Powers and others (2026). This dataset for the conterminous United States (CONUS) superseded the data release of Petersen and others (2023) and was later superseded by CONUS.2023.R2. Relative to Petersen and others (2023), in this revision we: 1. adjust the representation of ground motion model (GMM) epistemic uncertainty where the central and eastern U.S. stable-crust (CEUS) and the western U.S. (WUS) active-crust models are combined, 2. revert the weighting of the CEUS smoothed seismicity models, and 3. apply corrections to a few CEUS fault and fault-zone polygon rupture rates and WUS gridded seismicity rates. This dataset contains probabilistic seismic hazard curves and uniform-hazard ground motion values calculated for a grid of points with a spacing of 0.05 degrees in latitude and longitude for the Conterminous United States (CONUS), and the CONUS test sites, using the 2023 National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) for CONUS v. 6.1.1 (with nshmp-haz v. 2.6.7 and nshmp-lib v. 1.7.5). The dataset includes (1) long-term, time-independent mean hazard curves (full and truncated) for peak ground velocity (PGV), peak ground acceleration (PGA), and spectral accelerations at 21 spectral periods from 0.01 to 10 seconds spectral accelerations, with a 5% damped response, and (2) uniform-hazard ground motion values for 2, 5, and 10% in 50 years probability of exceedance (PE) (corresponding to 2,475, 975, and 475-year return periods, respectively). Results are provided for Vs30s (time-averaged shear-wave velocity [VS] in the upper 30 m) of 1500, 1080, 760, 530, 365, 260, 185, and 150 m/s, representing the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program site conditions A, B, BC, C, CD, D, DE and E, respectively (Building Seismic Safety Council, 2020).
