Included are: \n\t\t\t\n(1) polygon extents; datasets that represent the aquifer system extent, the entire \nextent subdivided into subareas or subunits, and any polygon extents of special interest \n(outcrop areas, no data available, areas underlying other aquifers, anomalies, for example), \n(2) contours: thickness contours used to generate the surface rasters in subarea \n4 (Arizona), \n(3) modified source raster datasets for subareas 1 and 3,  \n(4) corrected altitudes of top and bottom surface rasters of the entire aquifer. \nThe thickness contours and modified surface rasters are supplied for reference.\n\t\t\t\nThe extent of the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer is from the linework of the Basin \nand Range aquifer extent maps in U.S. Geological Survey Hydrologic Atlas 730 \nChapters B and C,  and a digital version of the aquifer extent presented in the \nGroundwater Atlas of the United States (the U.S. Geological Survey Hydrologic Atlas.\n\t\t\t\nThe Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer has no aquifer subunits, but is defined by five \nsubareas: \n\t1.  Subarea 1 is the area that overlies the Basin and Range Carbonate aquifer, \nwhich was the subject of U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report \n2010-5193 (USGS SIR 2010-5193).\n\t\t\t\n\t2.  Subarea 2 is the area of a different aquifer system, which is set to null for \nuse within the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer from U.S. Geological Survey \nPrincipal Aquifers, 2003 (USGS Circular 1323, Figure 2)\n\t\t\t\n\t3.  Subarea 3 is the area of the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer that was the \nsubject of U.S. Geological Survey Geophysical Map 1012 (USGS GP-1012) and \nnot covered by USGS SIR 2010-5193 or the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer in \nArizona,  Arizona Geological Survey, Digital Geological Map 52 (AZGS DGM-52). \nTop of aquifer is land surface. USGS GP-1012 dataset is depth from land surface \nto basin bottom.\n\t\t\t\n\t4.  Subarea 4 is the area of the 01BSNRGB aquifer in Arizona,  (AZGS DGM-52)\n\t\t\t\n\t5.  Subarea 5 areas are in the Basin and Range basin-fill extent areas that do \nnot have top/bot defined.\n\t\t\t\nThe resultant top and bottom surface rasters for each subarea were merged into \nsurface rasters of the top and bottom of the entire Basin and Range basin-fill aquifer \nwithin a GIS using tools that create hydrologically correct surfaces from contour data, \nderiving the altitude from the thickness (depth from the land surface), and merging the \nsubareas into a single surface. The primary tools were a version of \"Topo to Raster\", \nand \"Mosaic to New Raster\" used in ArcGIS, ArcMap, Esri 2014.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9IGLDY0", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.a46ad8ca-92db-4047-b3d8-c3f42e653f73.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_a46ad8ca-92db-4047-b3d8-c3f42e653f73", "keyword": ["Arizona", "Basin and Range", "California", "Idaho", "Nevada", "New Mexico", "Oregon", "USGS:a46ad8ca-92db-4047-b3d8-c3f42e653f73", "United States", "Utah", "aquifer", "aquifer system", "basin fill", "basin-fill aquifer", "extent", "groundwater", "inlandWaters", "volcanic aquifer"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-121.29270439, 30.021792453, -108.102439435, 44.111356302", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Geodatabase of the available top and bottom surface datasets that represent the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifers, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, and Utah"}
