Under the Magnuson-Stevens Act, EFH is defined as those waters and substrate necessary to fish for spawning, breeding, feeding, or growth to maturity. These data sets provides the consolidated spatial representations of these designated areas. These data sets (geodatabases) were developed to fulfill the federal mandates of the Magnuson-Stevens Act, specifically 50 CFR § 600.815(a)(1)(v)(A), which outlines the Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) mapping requirements for Fishery Management Plans (FMPs).
