The Enid isolated terrace aquifer covers\napproximately 82 square miles and supplies water for irrigation,\ndomestic, municipal, and industrial use for the City of Enid and\nwestern Garfield County. The Quaternary-age Enid isolated\nterrace aquifer is composed of terrace deposits that consist of\ndiscontinuous layers of clay, sandy clay, sand, and gravel. The\naquifer is unconfined and is bounded by the underlying\nPermian-age Hennessey Group on the east and the Cedar Hills\nSandstone Formation of the Permian-age El Reno Group on the\nwest. Cedar Hills Sandstone Formation fills a channel beneath\nthe thickest section of the Enid isolated terrace aquifer in the\nmidwestern part of the aquifer.\nThe polygons boundary was digitized from a photocopy of a paper\nmap from a ground-water modeling thesis and report. The map\ndigitized was published at a scale of 1:62,500. The recharge\nvalue reported in the ground-water modeling thesis and report\nfor the Enid isolated terrace aquifer is 2.3 inches per year.\nGround-water flow models are numerical representations that\nsimplify and aggregate natural systems. Models are not unique;\ndifferent combinations of aquifer characteristics may produce\nsimilar results. Therefore, values of recharge used in the\nmodel and presented in this data set are not precise, but are\nwithin a reasonable range when compared to independently\ncollected data.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P986TKFP", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.b4521100-17e8-48ea-ac59-79fc77ea8dbe.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_b4521100-17e8-48ea-ac59-79fc77ea8dbe", "keyword": ["Enid aquifer", "Enid isolated terrace aquifer", "Enid terrace aquifer", "USGS:b4521100-17e8-48ea-ac59-79fc77ea8dbe", "aquifers", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "ground water", "ground-water recharge", "ground-water vulnerability", "groundwater", "groundwater vulnerability", "inlandWaters", "recharge", "recharge rate"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-97.9764, 36.3679, -97.7572, 36.5099", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Digital data sets that describe aquifer characteristics of the Enid isolated terrace aquifer in northwestern Oklahoma"}
