Metagenomic and proteomic datasets were prepared from nine different species of coral with and without Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) which were collected from various reefs near Key West, Florida (2019). The third dataset consists of proteomic data prepared from Orbicella faveolata from two regions off the Florida Coast (Ecosystem Conservation Area (ECA) and Lower Keys) as well as across two different time periods (Spring 2021 and Winter 2022). Stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD) is a lethal disease affecting Florida’s coral reefs since 2014, with its etiology and etiologic agent(s) yet to be determined. The purpose of this project is to identify functional characteristics of the SCTLD phenotype at a molecular level to gain insights into the etiologic mechanisms governing this disease. Understanding functional changes associated with disease progression and resistance will provide a foundation for developing new treatments and diagnostics for intervention and management of SCTLD specifically, and coral disease in general.
