We studied the\n\t\t\t\tsimultaneous administration of incompatible drugs using a new triple-lumen\n\t\t\t\tcatheter with decreased length and port to port distances.\n        \n        \n          Methods:\n          Ten domestic swine, 10\u201320 kg in weight, were divided into two\n\t\t\t\tgroups of five. Total parenteral nutrition was administered through the distal\n\t\t\t\tport and phenytoin was administered as a bolus and as an infusion in each\n\t\t\t\tgroup. Samples were taken from two sites during the bolus and at 1, 5, and\n\t\t\t\t15 min during phenytoin infusion. Histograms were generated for particle size\n\t\t\t\tand concentration. Samples were also examined under the microscope for\n\t\t\t\tparticles.\n        \n        \n          Results:\n          Histograms of particle size did not show any alteration of the\n\t\t\t\thistogram that would suggest particle size > 2 \u03bcm in diameter in the\n\t\t\t\tstudy or control samples.
