These data represent labeled data that were used to train and test random forest classification models. Each sample point is the centroid of a field obtained from the California Department of Water Resources' 2018 crop type map. Crop types identified at each sample point was identified using high-resolution imagery and Landsat derived normalized difference vegetation index. Nine crop types were identified: rice, pasture, grain, field, citrus and mediterranean, deciduous fruit and nut, vineyard, fallow and young perennial, and truck, nursery, and berry. If a sample point location's crop type could not be identified then it was left blank.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.66562a7cd34ef3137d35ea50.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_66562a7cd34ef3137d35ea50", "keyword": ["California", "Central Valley", "Landsat", "NAIP", "USGS:66562a7cd34ef3137d35ea50", "agriculture", "crop type", "farming", "image classification"], "modified": "2024-06-06T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-124.3900, 32.5300, -114.1200, 42.0000", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Centroid point locations of crop types in central California from 2005 - 2020"}
