The data have been arranged into four tiles to facilitate timely display and manipulation within a Geographic \nInformation System see https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/file/get/631405cad34e36012efa3297?name=nlcd01-partitions.jpg.\nThe National Land Cover Data Set for 2001 was produced through a cooperative project conducted by the Multi-\nResolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium. The MRLC Consortium is a partnership of Federal agencies \n(http://www.mrlc.gov), consisting of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric \nAdministration (NOAA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture \n(USDA), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the National Park Service (NPS), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service \n(USFWS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service \n(NRCS). One of the primary goals of the project is to generate a current, consistent, seamless, and accurate \nNational Land Cover Database (NLCD) circa 2001 for the United States at medium spatial resolution. For a \ndetailed definition and discussion on MRLC and the NLCD 2001 products, refer to Homer and others (2004), \n(see: https://www.mrlc.gov/mrlc2k.asp).\n\t\t\nThe NLCD 2001 was created by partitioning the United States into mapping zones. A total of 68 mapping zones \n(see https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/file/get/631405cad34e36012efa3297?name=nlcd01-mappingzones.jpg), were delineated within the conterminous \nUnited States based on ecoregion and geographical characteristics, edge-matching features, and the size \nrequirement of Landsat mosaics. Mapping zones encompass the whole or parts of several states. \nQuestions about the NLCD mapping zones can be directed to the NLCD 2001 Land Cover Mapping Team at \nthe USGS/EROS, Sioux Falls, SD (605) 594-6151 or mrlc@usgs.gov.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9EQYMEM", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.f5c310d6-d368-489b-932e-131dbf6f96a1.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_f5c310d6-d368-489b-932e-131dbf6f96a1", "keyword": ["NAWQA", "NLCD", "National Land Cover Data Set", "National Water-Quality Assessment", "USGS:f5c310d6-d368-489b-932e-131dbf6f96a1", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "inland waters", "inlandWaters", "land cover", "land use"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-98.612036, 37.105324, -65.143599, 51.857936", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "National Land Cover Database 2001 (NLCD01) Tile 2, Northeast United States: NLCD01_2"}
