SVI values range between 0 and 1 based on their percentile position among all census tracts in the U.S., with 0 representing lowest vulnerability census tracts and 1 representing highest vulnerability census tracts. SEDAC has gridded these vector inputs to create 1 kilometer spatial resolution raster surfaces allowing users to obtain vulnerability metrics for any user-defined area within the U.S. Utilizing inputs from CIESIN's Gridded Population of the World, Version 4 (GPWv4) Revision 11 data sets, a mask is applied for water, and optionally, for no population. The data are provided in two different projection formats, NAD83 as a U.S. specific standard, and WGS84 as a global standard. The goal of the SVI is to help identify vulnerable commUnities by ranking them on these inputs across the U.S.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "Search results for publications that cite this dataset by its DOI.", "downloadURL": "https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=10.7927%2F2ev1-g103", "format": "HTML", "mediaType": "text/html", "title": "Google Scholar search results"}], "identifier": "C2820969258-SEDAC", "issued": "2023-12-19", "keyword": ["earth-science", "human-dimensions", "population", "socioeconomics"], "language": ["en-US"], "modified": "2025-07-17", "programCode": ["026:001"], "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "SEDAC"}, "references": ["https://doi.org/10.7927/pta9-2980"], "spatial": "-180.0 17.0 -65.0 72.0", "temporal": "2000-01-01T00:00:00Z/2020-01-01T00:00:00Z", "theme": ["USCG", "geospatial"], "title": "U.S. Social Vulnerability Index Grids, Revision 01"}
