The study area extends approximately 80 km from Ponce Inlet in Volusia County northward to St. Augustine Inlet in St. Johns County, including coastal areas of Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns Counties between the Atlantic shoreline and Highway A1A. The dataset integrates derived beach and dune morphology metrics, vegetation greenness indices, sea turtle nesting summaries, shorebird observation summaries, and stakeholder survey responses. Beach and dune morphology data were derived from NOAA Digital Coast LiDAR datasets for 2016, 2022, and 2024, while vegetation greenness was assessed using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from National Agricultural Imagery Program imagery for 2015, 2019, and 2023. Transects were established at 16 coastal locations across Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns Counties to represent different shoreline conditions, including natural dunes, seawalls, mixed natural-hardened shorelines, and construction-affected areas, with six transect sites in Volusia County, seven in Flagler County, and three in St. Johns County. Ecological data include sea turtle nesting records from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Sea Turtle Statewide Nesting Beach Survey Program for 2014–2024, summarized by beach section, year, and species, including loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta), green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), and leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). Shorebird data include eBird observations from 2014–2024, summarized by county, year, season, and species group, with additional focus on threatened shorebird species such as American Oystercatcher, Black Skimmer, Least Tern, and Wilson’s Plover. The dataset also includes anonymized or aggregated stakeholder survey summaries from two coastal resilience workshops conducted in Volusia County in November 2024, documenting stakeholder knowledge, concerns, and perceptions related to beach and dune change, living seawalls, nature-based shoreline protection, permitting, ecological impacts, and coastal resilience. The eastern edge of the boundary reaches to the high tide line determined by ArcGIS Pro hybrid layer, and west edge extends out to the east edge of Highway A1A. The authors determined the boundary to include sea turtle nesting, bird observations, and a wide range of geomorphic changes. Analyzing different shoreline types was performed to assess the elevation changes among natural vs. man-made structures. To choose transect locations, the author first looked at Google Maps (Version 25.43.1) and chose locations based on accessibility, different shoreline types, and the amount of infrastructure on the barrier island. After the locations were chosen, the author went out to each site on July 28th, 2025 to record shoreline types and short descriptions, take pictures from each cardinal direction, and access GPS coordinates on Google Maps. Once the author had all of my information recorded and compiled, they updated my GPS coordinates for more precise and accurate locations on ArcGIS Pro.. NAIP acquired aerial imagery at a resolution of 1-meter ground sample distance (GSD) for the United States from 2003– 2017. The images are orthorectified which combines the image characteristics of an aerial photograph with the georeferenced qualities of a map. In 2018, the ground resolution standard changed to .6 meter with the option for .3 meter data was added for consideration over coastal states.
