As a part of this broader effort, this data release serves digitized structure contour, isopach, and fault lines from a series of previously published maps of the Palo Duro Basin and the surrounding uplifts within the Texas Panhandle (Dutton 1980; Dutton 1982; Ruppel 1985; Johns 1988; Cronin 1969). The Palo Duro basin is a large Paleozoic rift basin in the southern part of the Texas Panhandle and is a structural extension of the Hollis Hardeman basin (east) and Tucumcari Basin (west). The basin is located south of the Anadarko basin, Dalhart Basin, Amarillo uplift, and north of the Matador Arch and Midland Basin. Lithostratigraphic or chronostratigraphic units within this data release include the Precambrian crystalline basement, basal Cambrian siliciclastics, lower Ordovician Ellenburger group, Mississippian series including the Chester, Barnett, Meramec, Osage, and Kinderhook, Pennsylvanian system, Permian Wolfcampian series, Triassic Dockum Group, and the Tertiary Ogallala Formation. Elevation of the top and base of these sedimentary units are served as structure contours, while unit thickness is recorded as isopach contours. Major faults are represented by polylines indicating the intersection of the fault plane with select stratigraphic horizons. This data is presented in a subsurface 3D standardized format, S3DS, including nonspatial tabular data, and metadata.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P13MX2HN", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.6a7398201ba49ba0aff77fd8.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_6a7398201ba49ba0aff77fd8", "keyword": ["Anadarko Basin", "Dalhart Basin", "Dockum Group", "Ellenburger Group", "Hardeman Basin", "Hollis Basin", "Matador Arch", "Midland Basin", "Mississippian", "New Mexico", "Ogallala Formation", "Oklahoma", "Palo Duro Basin", "Pennsylvanian", "Permian Basin", "Precambrian", "San Saba Aquifer", "Texas", "Texas Panhandle", "USGS:6a7398201ba49ba0aff77fd8", "geoscientific information", "geoscientificInformation", "isopach contours", "structure contours", "subsurface geology"], "modified": "2026-08-27T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-105.4759, 31.6573, -97.3653, 37.1807", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Digital data of subsurface isopach and structural features from the Palo Duro Basin and Texas Panhandle"}
