Cortes", "hasEmail": "mailto:vcortes@usgs.gov"}, "description": "In September of 2011, Tropical Storm Lee made landfall in Louisiana before tracking north into Pennsylvania. From the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, large portions of Northern and Central Pennsylvania received at least 10 inches of rain, with some localities recording 15 inches. With already wet antecedent conditions present in August and early September, many streams in the Susquehanna Basin experienced catastrophic flooding on September 7th and 8th 2011 (Suro and others, 2015). Both branches of the Susquehanna River as well as many of their major tributaries experienced their worst flooding since Hurricane Agnes in 1972, with some locations even exceeding Agnes in flood magnitude.\nFollowing the flooding, the USGS documented almost 800 high-water marks (HWMs), surveying 361 of them into North American Vertical Datum of 1988. These HWMs were published to the USGS Flood Event Viewer.
