The 2012 dataset \nis based on a slightly modified version of the National Land Cover Database \n2011 (NLCD 2011) that was recoded to a schema of land uses, and mapped \nback in time to develop datasets for the four earlier eras. The time periods \ncoincide with years in which U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Census \nof Agriculture data were collected.  Changes are derived from \n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t(a) known changes in water bodies from reservoir construction or removal, \n\t\t\t(b) housing unit density changes, \n\t\t\t(c) regional mining/extraction trends, \n\t\t\t(d) for 1999-2012, timber and forestry activity based on US Geological Survey (USGS) Landfire data, \n\t\t\t(e) county-level USDA Census of Agriculture change in cultivated land, and \n\t\t\t(f) establishment dates of major conservation areas.\n\t\t\t\nThe data are compared to several other published studies and datasets as \nvalidation.\tCaveats are provided about limitations of the data for some classes. \nThe work was completed as part of the USGS National Water-Quality \nAssessment (NAWQA) Program and termed the NAWQA Wall-to-Wall \nAnthropogenic Land Use Trends (NWALT) dataset, with anticipation of five \nyear updates for future versions. The associated datasets include five 60-m \ngeospatial rasters showing anthropogenic land use from 1974-2012 and 14 \nrasters showing the extent of timber clear-cutting and harvest for 1999-2012.  \nThe full report for the product is provided as USGS Data Series 2015-948, \nat https://doi.org/10.3133/ds948.", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P9XJKKC3", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.4d548454-8801-46d6-a4be-8a6e3a64684f.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_4d548454-8801-46d6-a4be-8a6e3a64684f", "keyword": ["Alabama", "Anthropogenic Land Use Trends", "Arizona", "Arkansas", "California", "Colorado", "Connecticut", "Conterminous US", "Delaware", "District of Columbia", "Florida", "Georgia", "Idaho", "Illinois", "Indiana", "Iowa", "Kansas", "Kentucky", "Land cover", "Land use", "Land-use trends", "Louisiana", "Maine", "Maryland", "Massachusetts", "Michigan", "Minnesota", "Mississippi", "Missouri", "Montana", "Nebraska", "Nevada", "New Hampshire", "New Jersey", "New Mexico", "New York", "North Carolina", "North Dakota", "Ohio", "Oklahoma", "Oregon", "Pennsylvania", "Rhode Island", "South Carolina", "South Dakota", "Tennessee", "Texas", "USGS:4d548454-8801-46d6-a4be-8a6e3a64684f", "Utah", "Vermont", "Virginia", "Washington", "West Virginia", "Wisconsin", "Wyoming", "environment", "geoscientificInformation", "inland waters", "inlandWaters"], "modified": "2020-11-17T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-130.232828, 21.742308, -63.672192, 52.877264", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "U.S. Conterminous Wall-to-Wall Anthropogenic Land Use Trends (NWALT), 1974-2012"}
