With these data, we modeled the influence of environmental conditions on cost-effectiveness using generalized additive models. We also created maps for mean effectiveness-cost (EC) ratios at the cost estimate for a 5,000 acre treatment for either sagebrush cover (cEC) or recovery probability (pEC) 30 years following a hypothetical wildfire (relative to no treatment). We also provide maps for uncertainty in cost-effectiveness for each seeding treatment.\nAcross the western United States, disturbances such as wildfire, drought, and invasive species have reduced and degraded the biome dominated by sagebrush. How to prioritize limited funds for restoration requires spatially-explicit information on both effectiveness and costs of potential treatments. Understanding mechanisms associated with cost-effectiveness across this vast landscape can also guide land use and improve restoration efficiency and effectiveness.\nFile included in this child item:\ncEC_sd_aerial_5k.tif \u2013 error (standard deviation) in effectiveness-cost ratio of sagebrush cover from aerial seeding Artemisia spp. at the cost estimate for 5,000 acres\nIncluded with each .tif file is a service definition (.sd) file which is only viewable in ArcGIS Online (AGOL) (see Spatial Services on the child item page for tile service link).", "distribution": [{"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "accessURL": "https://doi.org/10.5066/P13LOV2A", "description": "Landing page for access to the data", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "application/http", "title": "Digital Data"}, {"@type": "dcat:Distribution", "description": "The metadata original format", "downloadURL": "https://data.usgs.gov/datacatalog/metadata/USGS.6a57a0971ba49b33d93d84a9.xml", "format": "XML", "mediaType": "text/xml", "title": "Original Metadata"}], "identifier": "http://datainventory.doi.gov/id/dataset/USGS_6a57a0971ba49b33d93d84a9", "keyword": ["California", "Colorado", "Great Basin", "Idaho", "Montana", "Nebraska", "Nevada", "North Dakota", "Oregon", "South Dakota", "USGS:6a57a0971ba49b33d93d84a9", "United States", "Utah", "Washington", "Wyoming", "biota", "business and economics", "economy", "ecosystem resilience", "fires", "habitat alteration and disturbance", "long-term ecological monitoring", "plants (organisms)", "remediation", "remote sensing", "soil moisture", "spatial analysis"], "modified": "2026-07-23T00:00:00Z", "publisher": {"@type": "org:Organization", "name": "U.S. Geological Survey"}, "spatial": "-124.7873, 32.5272, -101.2143, 50.8432", "theme": ["geospatial"], "title": "Error (standard deviation) in effectiveness-cost ratio of sagebrush cover from aerial seeding Artemisia spp. (cEC) at the cost estimate for 5,000 acres"}
