These were restored to a PC hard disk and copied to archival storage media in 52 files. Note: Data was originally held in IOSBT (Indian Ocean Subsurface Temperature), a database managed by ORSTOM (France). IOSBT is described as a "subsurface temperature database with the ability to gather data from different sources", i.e., NANSEN casts, XBT's, CTD's, etc. IOSBT was originally created to aid in research of the Tuna industry. The publication, "A presentation of the Indian Ocean subsurface temperature (IOSBT) data set" is included in the originator's documentation.
