These projects are part of a wider effort to better understand El Salvador\u2019s many volcanoes and provide baseline data which can be applied to understanding the character of the country\u2019s volcanism and assessing its volcanic hazards.  Many of El Salvador\u2019s late Pleistocene and Holocene eruptions and non-eruptive volcanic events lack critical information on when they occurred.  Samples were taken from both terrestrial outcrops and cores of varying lengths.  The data presented here begin to fill this knowledge gap by providing age constraint for many previously undated eruptions, debris avalanches, or debris flows.
